Visiting Korean tourists last year, paying attention to cultures that are valued by about 80% compared to 2023, four tourist-free world heritage sites, mountain cities, marine tourism, and wine

In some places, the visit rate of Korean tourists soared about 80% year-on-year last year. It’s “Georgia.” Last year, about 27,000 Koreans visited Georgia. The Georgian Embassy and the Georgia Tourism Agency have revealed the secret.
On the 4th, the Georgia Tourism Agency held a “2025 Georgia Embassy Reception” at the Grand Hyatt Hotel in Seoul in collaboration with the Georgian Embassy in Korea. The theme of the event was Emotions are Georgia, a travel destination that stimulates emotions.
The event was attended by a number of embassy and tourism officials, including Georgia Ambassador to South Korea Tarash Pappascua and Georgia National Tourism Agency Commissioner Maia Omiazet.
“The guest is a gift from God.”It looks exactly like Korea
In Georgia, there is an adage that ‘guests are gifts from God’. This word summarizes Georgia’s hospitality culture.
Georgia’s culture, which values customers, is in line with the Korean sentiment that has long held a “party” to treat customers with utmost sincerity. Georgia’s hospitality culture, which warmly welcomes travelers, increases the rate of revisiting travelers.
Georgia is also an attractive destination for Korean tourists who dream of romantic travel. This is because you can face all kinds of nature and climate environments that impress you here.
Georgia Ambassador to Korea Tarash Papascua said, “In light of the past three years of living in Korea, I can see how sincere Koreans are about the beauty of nature,” adding, “I’m glad that more and more Koreans are visiting Georgia.”
Wine, Rock City, Caucasus Mountains…There’s no need to say it.
At the event, Georgia cited “UNESCO World Heritage Site,” “untrusted nature,” “four seasons,” “marine tourism,” “mountain snow scene,” “Europe’s highest mountainous village,” and “the world’s oldest wine producer” as tourist attractions.
First, it is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Georgia has four World Heritage Sites: the Mtsheta Historical Monument, Georgia’s former capital and medieval cultural center, the 11th-century cathedral Bagrati Cathedral, the Kolkis rainforest on the Black Sea coast, and the Kolkis Wetland, home to a variety of aquatic plants.
Georgia’s untouched nature also attracts Korean tourists. In fact, about 13.3% of Georgia’s land is a nature reserve. Georgia, like our country, has four distinct seasons. According to the Georgia Tourism Administration, it is proud to subdivide these four seasons and feel a total of 13 climate zones in the country.
If you’ve been to Georgia, you should also enjoy ‘hot hot spring bath’ and ‘sand steam’. In Tbilisi, the capital city, there is a sulfur hot spring, so you can enjoy a hot spring bath with natural hot spring water in winter. Georgia’s Ureki Beach is a ‘sand steaming attraction’. It is one of the beaches on the west coast of Georgia and features a black beach rather than a regular sandbar.
This ureki beach’s black beach is made up of ‘magnetic sand’ with a lot of magnetite, a naturally magnetic iron ore. Magnetic sand is known to alleviate musculoskeletal diseases and inflammation due to its high magnetization rate (率 磁), which is the ratio of magnetic field strength.
If you go to Georgia in winter, you can enjoy the snow view of the Caucasus Mountains and even ski. There are a total of four ski resorts in Georgia. The highest mountain town in Europe, Ushguli, is also located in Georgia. It is a village in the Shukara Mountains, where more than 200 residents live 2050m above sea level.
For wine lovers, Georgia is the ultimate wine traveller. Georgia, known as the birthplace of wine, has records of fermenting grapes in the region and making wine since about 6000 B.C. As such, there are 29 wine-origin protected areas, 525 grape varieties, and over 500 wine cellars.
Accommodation and flights are also diligently increasing for the convenience of travelers. There are currently a total of 2488 accommodations in Georgia. In 2022, shortly after COVID-19, there were 97,834 bedrooms available in the property, a 10.12% increase to 107,735 in 2023. By 2027, the number of available bedrooms will be increased to 145,459.
Asked about the flight, Ambassador Papascua replied, “The flight is currently operating chartered flights from Korea as airlines such as Korean Air, and we aim to increase the number of chartered flights and eventually launch direct flights.”
Why You Should Take One Size Large Clothes When Traveling to Georgia
Georgia asked to “bring a size larger piece of clothing” as a travel tip. As soon as a traveler sets foot in Georgia, an endless feast of wine and food unfolds. If you enjoy Georgia, you can find yourself with a little bigger body.
There are also preferential treatment for Koreans when traveling to Georgia. It is the visa-free period of stay. Since June 2015, Georgia has revised its immigration laws to allow Koreans to stay visa-free for one year. Considering that a visa-free stay is usually 90 days, a year is very exceptional.
Ambassador Papascua pointed to ‘Mtsheta’ as a Georgian destination for Korean travelers. It was praised as an attractive travel destination where you can see various ancient heritages such as cathedrals, religious sites, and churches where the old king’s tomb is located.
“This experience cannot be easily done in other countries and can only be done in Georgia, which has a long history,” Ambassador Pappascua said. “You will see here that Georgia is an ancient country and a place of culture.”
“In addition to expanding the existing airport, we are promoting the construction of a new international airport to create an environment where more tourists can visit Georgia more easily and conveniently,” said Omiazet, head of the National Tourism Agency. “We will continue to closely interact with the Korean tourism industry and establish new cooperative relationships.”
