The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Visit Korea Committee will contest specialized local tourism products for foreigners.

The contest, which will be held from March 17 to April 4, will discover and select up to 20 attractive local tourism products so that more foreigners can visit the provinces.

The target of the contest is a local tourism product for foreigners that can be commercialized within May this year and can be operated continuously throughout the year.

The competition field is △ APEC’s specialized tourism products (for Gyeongju and Gyeongbuk) △ Local tourism products that need to promote foreign visitors △ Unique theme tourism products, and up to three products (multiple applications in three fields) can be applied for each company.

A total of four places in Jeollanam-do, Gwangju, Chungbuk, and Sejong are required to promote foreign visitors’ visits, which will be limited to less than 1% of the places to visit during the 2023 foreign tourist survey.

In addition, in the case of exotic theme tourism products, public offerings are available only in areas other than Seoul, Incheon, Gyeonggi, and Jeju.

Companies wishing to apply must submit product plans differentiated from existing products by newly developing attractive products available to foreigners or improving the marketability of products in operation.

The theme of the product contest is △K-Content (K-Pop, etc.) △K-Food (Restaurant, gourmet experience, etc.) △ Natural scenery △ Leports (Sports experience, etc.) △ Traditional culture and history, of which at least one topic should be effectively utilized to construct products by utilizing local tourism resources.

The selection process finalizes the selected companies after the first document review of the plan and the second presentation review.

For the final selected product operating companies, △ Actual development, operating, and promotional marketing expenses (up to 44 million won per product) △ Expert consulting on product planning and public relations marketing △ Production of online and offline contents for product promotion △ Market development through product registration and planning exhibitions in the Global Travel Platform (OTA) △ Networking among participating companies will be provided, and overall support will be provided to produce practical results from product planning, operation, and sales.

Applicants can check the requirements and details of the “2025 Local Tourism Specialized Product Contest” and submit documents such as applications for participation and product plans by e-mail by 2 p.m. on April 4.

Details of the contest will be available from March 17 on the Visit Committee’s website and the Korean tourism industry portal “Tourraj” operated by the Korea Tourism Organization.

The visiting committee plans to increase the attractiveness of Korean tourism and contribute to revitalizing local tourism by allowing foreign tourists to travel to more diverse regions away from the center of the existing metropolitan area through local tourism products selected as the contest.
